We made it to Shannon, Ireland and jumped in our rental car to go to Galway. Ardith was, of course, the designated driver (my plan). We immediately had to switch sides as the steering wheel was on the other side. This was Ardith’s first clue that we might be in for some adventure.
So the blinker is where the windshield wiper should be on the steering column. Also, we have the left side of the road to drive on. Everything is backwards.
So off we go with GPS in hand. We hit the first roundabout and the GPS said “recalculating.” There is an art to the roundabout here that we didn’t learn until about the 3rd “recalculating” from the GPS. No stoplights here, just roundabouts. No shoulders on the roads just rock walls(on my side of the car). We didn’t hit anything other than a curb or two and even went to the Cliffs of Moher on the way. Pictures of our near collisions will be in the blog tomorrow.
The Cliffs of Moher were very beautiful. The road we took to get to them was equaling breathtaking but in a whole different way.
